Gentlemen, it's time you find out what women talk about when they get together. The former members of a girl's college swim team gather at the same beach house once every year. As they reminisce and catch up on their lives, they'll leave you laughing so hard you'll gasp for air! We see them grow older and change, yet sometimes never change. It is a funny, beautiful story of friendship that no one should miss. April 1- April Fool's Day April 1 - Three Dog Night - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Highway East (Route 30, across from Rockvale Outlets), Lancaster, PA. 717-397-7700 or 800-648-4102. Nobody had more radio airplay, or sold more records and concert tickets in the '70s than Three Dog Night. They were responsible for a succession of 21 hit singles, including eleven Top Tens, and twelve consecutive gold albums from 1969 to 1975, thanks to the slick, sometimes soulful vocal harmonies of founding members Danny Hutton and Cory Wells and an excellent ear for quality material. "One" became the band's first Top Ten hit in 1969, while "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)" hit number one a year later. "Joy to the World" became the group's biggest hit in 1971, spending six weeks on top of the pop charts, and their streak continued with their final number one, 1972's "Black and White" and their final Top Ten, 1974's "The Show Must Go On." Disney shares one of its crown jewels of feature animation in this U.S. premiere showcasing selections from Walt Disney's original Fantasia and Disney's Fantasia 2000. The Disney masterpiece will be presented on large screen in HD featuring live accompaniment by the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. The one-of-a-kind program will include Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite, Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 & Symphony No. 5, the never-before-seen Debussy's Claire de Lune, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite and much more. April 5 - Anoushka Shankar - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. One of the leading figures in world music today, sitar player and composer Anoushka shankar has deep roots in indian classical music. Beginning at the age of nine, she studied sitar exclusively with her father, the legendary ravi shankar. shankar breaks new ground as she brings together the passionate and diverse music of spain with the vibrant, ancient forms of the indian classical tradition. Tracing the musical commonalities of the Gypsies' journey from their homeland in rajasthan passing through iran, iraq and Armenia and finally settling in spain, Shankar re-forges the link, separated by a thousand years, between spanish and Indian music. Using sitar, tabla, bansuri flute, percussion, spanish guitar and voice, musical pioneer shankar employs her stunning virtuosity to create a powerful and mesmerizing collection of new pieces that show yet again an artist at the very top of her game. April 6 - Good Friday April 7 - Yummie's Giant Easter Egg Hunt - Kitchen Kettle Village, Rt. 240, Intercourse, PA. 717-768-8261. It's an "eggs-tra-special" day of Easter Fun at Kitchen Kettle Village. Join Yummie and the Easter Bunny for an egg hunt, crafts and don't miss the Cherry Crest Farm peeps. Crafts and activities start at 9am and the egg hunt begins at 10:30am. Bring your own basket! April 8 - Easter April 10 - Riverdance - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Highway East (Route 30, across from Rockvale Outlets), Lancaster, PA. 717-397-7700 or 800-648-4102. The Irish dancing phenomenon known as Riverdance makes its way to Lancaster, PA! This amazing theatrical show is, in essence, the story of the Irish culture and of the Irish immigration to America, portrayed through traditional Irish step dancing, music and song. April 11 - Simone Dinnerstein - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. New York-based pianist simone Dinnerstein has been praised by Time magazine for her "arresting freshness and subtlety". she gained international recognition due to the remarkable success of her recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations. Her album, Bach: A Strange Beauty, was released in January 2011 and immediately earned the No. 1 spot on the Billboard classical chart and made the Billboard Top 200 top selling albums in all genres. A graduate of The Julliard school, Dinnerstein was a winner of the Astral Artist National Auditions. Dinnerstein's program will include Bach's Partita's No. 1 and No. 2, chopin's Nocture No. 8, and schubert's Four Impromptus. April 13 - 15 - Gaither Vocal Band - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Highway East (Route 30, across from Rockvale Outlets), Lancaster, PA. 717-397-7700 or 800-648-4102. A full evening of entertainment and meaningful music is a rare treat anytime, but when the occasion includes the best-loved voices in gospel music, it's a must-see celebration! Today, the Gaither Vocal Band roster is comprised of Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, David Phelps, Michael English and Mark Lowry. Individually, these men are gifted artists and men of authentic faith. Together, they are the incomparable Gaither Vocal Band, known around the world for their powerhouse vocals, innovative harmonies and life-altering message - a message of grace, hope and redemption. April 19 - Josh Turner - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Highway East (Route 30, across from Rockvale Outlets), Lancaster, PA. 717-397-7700 or 800-648-4102. Deep-voiced Josh Turner burst onto the country music scene a few years ago with the powerful "Long Black Train," and has since established himself as a country superstar with his #1 hits "Your Man," "Would You Go With Me," "Why Don't We Just Dance," and "All Over Me." Nominated in the CMA's Male Vocalist category, Turner has the honor of being the youngest member ever to have been invited to join the Grand Ole Opry. April 21 - Paquito D'Rivera Quarte - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. Paquito D'rivera is celebrated for both his artistry in Latin jazz and his achievements as a classical composer. The winner of nine Grammy awards, he was the first artist to win Latin Grammys in both classical and Latin Jazz categories. Over the course of his career, he has recorded more than 30 solo albums. He served as a founding member of the United Nations Orchestra in 1988, organized by Dizzy Gillespie. In 1991, D'rivera was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from Carnegie Hall. He has received the international Association for Jazz education President's Award, and a Doctorate Honoris causa in Music from the University of Pennsylvania. April 22 - Paul Fleckenstein - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. Since 1993, Paul Fleckenstein has served as Organist and Director of Music at Westminster church in Wilmington, De. April 25 - Administrative Professional's Day April 25 - May 13 - August: Osage County - Fulton Opera, 12 N. Prince St., Lancaster, PA. (717)397-7425. This darkly comic drama explores the unspoken secrets that haunt the Westons, a dysfunctional extended family in rural Oklahoma. Following the disappearance of their alcoholic patriarch, the clan gathers at the farmhouse to rehash family feuds, confront long-suppressed demons and contend with the vitriolic, pill-popping grandmother at the center of the storm. Mature audiences only. April 26 - Eroica Trio - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. The Grammy-nominated eroica Trio is considered one of the most sought-after trios in the world. The three young women who comprise the ensemble electrify audiences whether playing the great standards of piano trio repertoire or daring contemporary works. The trio, comprised of erika Nickrenz on piano, susie Park on violin, and sara sant'Ambrogio on cello, won the prestigious Naumburg Award. The award resulted in a highly successful debut at Lincoln center and a tour of the United states, europe, and Asia. Their eight recordings have garnered multiple Grammy nominations. Their program will include pieces from Jean-Baptiste Loeillet, John ireland, Dmitri shostakovich, and ohannes Brahms. April 26 - May 12 - Xanadu - Sharadin Bigler Theatre, 320 Cocalico Street, Ephrata Community Park, Ephrata, PA 17522, 717-733-7966. One of the worst Hollywood movie musicals ever was transformed into a big, brash, Broadway favorite in 2009. Happily, the 1980 movie's hit soundtrack survived that great makeover, including E.L.O.'s "Evil Woman" as well as Olivia Newton John's "Magic" and the title tune. The original tale of a forbidden romance between a pretty muse and the roller disco designer she was sent down from Mt. Olympus to inspire was turned into a self-mocking camp delight with the introduction of two outlandishly wicked sister muses whose commentary gives the show a whole new, disco-driven delirium. The Goobers are back again on the Dining Car with more of their absurd hilarity and murder mystery drama. Romeo Goober is running for Mayor of Paradise. In order to raise funds for his political move, the whole family has decided to film their life story for reality TV. Unfortunately the producer of the reality show is murdered at the Strasburg Rail Road and Moses Goober is being blamed. One of the guests on the railroad has a dark secret, they are the murderer and it was caught on camera – their own! April 9 - The Jazz Club at Longwood: Kenny Garrett Presents - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. Grammy Award winning jazz saxophonist Kenny Garrett returns to Longwood for an evening of supreme artistry. Garrett's most recent work, titled Sketches of MD, is a recording of live open-ended melodies over grooves that each reflect the artistry of key sidemen from Miles Davis' many groups—from John Coltrane to Kenny himself. April 10 - The Great Train Robbery - Strasburg Rail Road, Route 741, Strasburg, PA, 717-687-7522. As you enjoy a 45-minute ride to Paradise, PA and back, be on guard for a gang of robbers rumored to be in the Strasburg area.
