John Mueller's 50's Dance Party is the official live and authentic re-creation of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper's final tour and the only show endorsed by the Holly, Valens and Richardson estates. Jimmy Sturr, the internationally-known "King of Polka," has won a Grammy for Best Polka Album 18 times, and his is the only Polka band to perform on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Arguably the most popular Polka band in America, Jimmy Sturr's orchestra is on the Top Ten List of the All-Time Grammy Awards, and has acquired more Grammy nominations than anyone in the history of Polka music. July 19 - Aug. 4 - The Who's Tommy - Sharadin Bigler Theatre, 320 Cocalico Street, Ephrata Community Park, Ephrata, PA 17522, 717-733-7966. Peter Townshend of the Who's legendary rock fable completes it sweep of pop media: from recording sensation to cult film fame and now, the musical stage. Traumatized by seeing his father accidentally kill his mother's lover, little Tommy turns catatonic. Abused by his sadistic relatives and neighbors, he seeks refuge in the excitement and challenge of the arcade. Becoming an adolescent "Pinball Wizard," his sudden superstar status opens the door for his eventual salvation. The 1969 album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. July 1 - 20th Annual Independence Day Parade - Downtown, Lititz, PA. Parade starts at 6:30 pm at West Lincoln Ave. and Warwick St and travels through downtown Lititz. “Flamin’ Dick & The Hot Rods” follows the parade in Lititz Springs Park. July 2 - Traditional Dinner & Murder Mystery Train - Strasburg Rail Road, Route 741, Strasburg, PA, 717-687-7522. The Goobers are back again on the Dining Car with more of their absurd hilarity and murder mystery drama. Romeo Goober is running for Mayor of Paradise. In order to raise funds for his political move, the whole family has decided to film their life story for reality TV. Unfortunately the producer of the reality show is murdered at the Strasburg Rail Road and Moses Goober is being blamed. One of the guests on the railroad has a dark secret, they are the murderer and it was caught on camera – their own! July 2 - Lititz Farmers Market - Downtown, Water Street (1/2 block off of Main Street), Lititz, PA 17543. The market features a full variety of locally produced products sold by the farmers in a festive setting. Live music, children's activities, Chef Demonstrations and a community interest table make the Market a family friendly way to spend a Saturday morning. The farmers bring fresh vegetables, fruits, baked goods, dairy, meats, eggs, jellies, flowers, plants and much more. Shoppers can leave the Market with everything needed for a special Saturday night dinner or just a week of delicious food. 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.
