Thru Oct. 1 - Behind The Scenes Tour - Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre, Rt. 896, Strasburg, PA. 717-687-7800. A million watts of lights - sixty-thousand watts of sound - and a stage over twenty-thousand square feet in size. Millennium Theatre shows are live theatre productions on a massive scale. Now, you have the exclusive opportunity of going backstage in our Behind The Scenes Tour. Discover the technology and ingenuity that powers the dramatic complexity of each show. You'll visit the nerve centers that keep the lights, sound, stage - and even animals on cue. You'll also glimpse a state-of-the-art scene shop creating sets for upcoming shows, learn about the process involved in bringing a story to life, and step up to the stage for an actor's view at the incomparable Millennium Theatre.

Thru Oct. 3 - Opal's Million Dollar Duck - Freedom Chapel Dinner Theatre,15 North Bridge Street, P.O. Box 63, Christiana, PA 17509, 610-593-7013. Searching for costumes for their next production, Desmond and Queenie stop by Opal's Antique Jungue Shop. While rooting through Opal's treasures they spot an oil painting- a still life of a dead mallard duck and an apple. Recalling the morning paper, an article about a painting which has disappeared from the local art museum, they think that this may be it! Summoning up all their acting skills, the pair try to persuade Opal to sell the painting. But she is going to give it to her friend Rosie, who rejects the painting because it reminds her of her pet duck. The plotters march off triumphantly with their prize, unaware that a later edition of the paper says the painting has been found and what Desmond and Queenie have found was a copy thrown out with the garbage.

We’ve dusted off our most critically acclaimed show ever, and rewoven it into a fabulous concert experience. Join us once again as we travel the Great White Way from the classic standards of Irving Berlin and George Gershwin to the blockbusters of today like Cats and Phantom of the Opera. We’ll revisit all of your favorites from West Side Story to Jersey Boys and everything in between. Thru Oct. 15 - Main Fountain Garden - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. The fountains run continuously throughout the day, from 9:00 am to gardens close. Five-minute shows delight visitors at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00 pm.

Thru Oct. 15 - Italian Water Garden - Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. Pruned littleleaf linden trees, clipped ivy and green lawns surround six large and 12 small blue-tiled pools with 600 jets of water and a water staircase that recirculate 4,500 gallons of water each minute. This fountain garden runs continuously from 9:00 am to 5:45 pm.

Thru Oct. 15 - Open Air Theatre Fountain -
Longwood Gardens, US Route 1, Kennett Square, PA 19348, 610-388-1000. Featuring 750 jets in changing patterns—come alive with five-minute shows set to music at 10:00 & 11:00 am, and 1:00, and 3:00 pm daily.

Thru Oct. 17 - In the Beginning - Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre, Rt. 896, Strasburg, PA. 717-687-7800. In a spectacular staging of the biblical account of creation, Sight & Sound opens the original production, In the Beginning. Be there as the Garden of Eden appears before you - the waters, vegetation, and animals of the newly created world enveloping the Millennium Theatre! Experience God's pleasure at his most awesome creation, Adam and Eve, and the complete beauty of their unbroken relationship with God. Thru Nov. 7 - Smoke on the Mountain - Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, 510 Centerville Road, Lancaster, 717-898-1900. It's Saturday night and Reverend Oglethorpe has invited the Sanders Family Singers to provide an uplifting evening of singin', clappin', and hilarious stories, with old gospel tunes like Church in the Wildwood, Rock of Ages, Whispering Hope and I'll Fly Away.

Thru Oct. 31 - Uncle Chick's Last Wish - Rainbow Dinner Theatre, Route 30, Paradise, PA 17562, 800-292-4301. Uncle Chick was the uncle everyone loved: the practical joker and the happy-go-lucky life of every party. Even when he passed on, he wanted the last laugh. So the nicest man in the world's last request was to have his ashes scattered on his favorite beach. His sweet wife, her niece and the niece's daughter face this very humorous dilemma posed by Uncle Chick's last wish when they find out Uncle Chick's favorite beach was a nude beach! And the only way they can get on the beach is to, well, you know. This fall Rainbow presents the world premiere of this fresh new comedy--don't miss it!

Thru May 2010 - Sense of Time Special Exhibit Opens - National Watch & Clock Museum, 514 Poplar St., Columbia, PA 17512, 717-684-8261 ext.237. Exhibit explores the ancient measurement devices of Asian Fire Clocks.

Oct. 3 - Bobby Vinton - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Hwy. E. (Rt. 30), Lancaster, PA 17602, 717-397-7700, 800-648-4102. Multi-talented Pennsylvanian and self-proclaimed “Polish Prince,” Bobby Vinton returns to AMT and performs his signature song from the ‘70s, “Melody of Love.” Every era had its crooner, and in the early ‘60s, it was Bobby Vinton. Bobby’s sentimental balladeering and orchestral, middle-of-the-road arrangements were a throwback to a decade earlier, before rock ‘n roll had found its mass market. Among some of his biggest hits are “Roses are Red (My Love),” “Blue on Blue,” “There! I’ve Said It Again,” “Mr. Lonely” and “Blue Velvet.”

The 3 Redneck Tenors are classically trained veteran artists from Broadway and world opera stages with voices that will blow away any audience. Their popularity exploded after they were featured on NBC's America's Got Talent. Romance serves as the core of Engelbert’s music and lasting success. The reigning “Rex of Romance” pours his mellow voice over each note. His most memorable hits are “After the Lovin’,” “The Last Waltz,” “Spanish Eyes” and “Release Me.”

Oct. 10 - 11 - 14th Annual Fall Farm Days - The Amish Farm & House, 2395 Route 30 East (Lincoln Highway), Lancaster, PA 17602. 717-394-6185. Come enjoy an old-fashioned weekend at The Amish Farm & House. The weekend is a celebration of fall and the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch. Enjoy food samplings and sales, blacksmithing, quilting, woodcarving, and hay rides. Watch the weekend's special guest demonstrators--potter, leather worker, scherenschnitte maker, weaver and more--and learn their unique art! Don't forget about the kids activities and our farm-themed playground.

Oct. 10 - 11 - Mark Lowry - American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Hwy. E. (Rt. 30), Lancaster, PA 17602, 717-397-7700, 800-648-4102. Mark Lowry has been making people laugh, cry and think for over twenty years. Longtime member of the Gaither Vocal Band, Mark's on stage antics with Bill Gaither were an instant hit with the Vocal Band audiences and their comedy evolved into the highlight of the evening when the Homecoming Tour was born. In 1984, Mark wrote the lyric to a song that would establish his status as a songwriter forever. The beautiful song, “Mary, Did You Know?” has become a modern Christmas standard, recorded by more than thirty different artists including Kenny Rogers, Wynonna Judd, Clay Aiken, Natalie Cole, Donny Osmond and, of course, Mark Lowry.

Oct. 23 - Fourth Friday - Downtown Mount Joy, PA. 717-653-4227. Fourth Fridays are Mount Joy’s evening of celebration. Fourth Fridays are a time when Mount Joy explodes with things to do and provides a night to see and be seen Downtown. Over 20 destinations to enjoy.
