A million watts of lights - sixty-thousand watts of sound - and a stage over twenty-thousand square feet in size. Millennium Theatre shows are live theatre productions on a massive scale. Thru Oct. 3 - Opal's Million Dollar Duck - Freedom Chapel Dinner Theatre,15 North Bridge Street, P.O. Box 63, Christiana, PA 17509, 610-593-7013. Searching for costumes for their next production, Desmond and Queenie stop by Opal's Antique Jungue Shop. While rooting through Opal's treasures they spot an oil painting- a still life of a dead mallard duck and an apple. Recalling the morning paper, an article about a painting which has disappeared from the local art museum, they think that this may be it! Summoning up all their acting skills, the pair try to persuade Opal to sell the painting. But she is going to give it to her friend Rosie, who rejects the painting because it reminds her of her pet duck. The plotters march off triumphantly with their prize, unaware that a later edition of the paper says the painting has been found and what Desmond and Queenie have found was a copy thrown out with the garbage. Multi-talented Pennsylvanian and self-proclaimed “Polish Prince,” Bobby Vinton returns to AMT and performs his signature song from the ‘70s, “Melody of Love.” Every era had its crooner, and in the early ‘60s, it was Bobby Vinton. Bobby’s sentimental balladeering and orchestral, middle-of-the-road arrangements were a throwback to a decade earlier, before rock ‘n roll had found its mass market. Longtime member of the Gaither Vocal Band, Mark's on stage antics with Bill Gaither were an instant hit with the Vocal Band audiences and their comedy evolved into the highlight of the evening when the Homecoming Tour was born. In 1984, Mark wrote the lyric to a song that would establish his status as a songwriter forever. The beautiful song, “Mary, Did You Know?” has become a modern Christmas standard, recorded by more than thirty different artists including Kenny Rogers, Wynonna Judd, Clay Aiken, Natalie Cole, Donny Osmond and, of course, Mark Lowry.
